Re: Revision for Exams

Not really no' date=' if you read the edited part. It's a stark warning to these whipper snappers to not be optimistic and to expect the worst once they've left education.[/quote']

Ive missed you.

I don't think you realise what teenage parties are like nowadays :P

Are you implying that stuff goes on at teenage parties rather than watching clowns and or magicians while eating a table spread the birthday boy/girls mother has prepared  well i never ben! I thought more of you... :(

I always thought your posts just carried a sharp sense of humour.

This however, is poisonous and simply untrue. The only way you can possibly make something of yourself is to have the belief you can do it and the drive to carry it out. Sure it might not happen as you'd imagined but there's no reason why anybody can't be successful.

Just out of interest what path did you take once leaving compulsory education?

I'm aware of the current situation, and the percentage of unemployed young people is constantly rising, but that doesn't mean that things won't improve. It's impossible to say what the future holds, the course I want to embark on is 4 years long and anything can happen by the end of that, there might be a new PM who will totally change the situation and specialists say there we are being trained for jobs that don't even exist yet. There are all sorts of factors that can't be foreseen that can affect the climate, although I do appreciate your word of warning and it would be naive of me to assume that because I'm going to university that I'll get a job straight away.

Well, i left school at 15, had some bad stuff going on. Then went to College for a couple of years and then stumbled into a decent job.

Of course things might improve but highly unlikely in the near future. Don't go out into the world expecting to walk into a job, unless you're lucky like me, cos you won't.

My sense of humour can border on the sick. I like making people think there's no hope. If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing.

Re: Revision for Exams

Had two exams today' date=' media and maths.

Media was alright, not sure what I'll be getting tbh. Straight after, had Maths which was a killer IMO, C1 paper today was much harder than the past papers I've been doing.. seems like I'll be re-taking this come June. Didn't even get a break, my hand was killing :mad:

Oh well, sort of free now.. But going to try and catch up on coursework, and try get a start on C2, seems like I left revision to the last minute for C1 :o[/quote']

Did AS maths last year, C1 was good as was S1 but C2-good lord!

C2 was the worst exam I've ever had (sorry as you probably dont want to hear that haha)! Just do every past paper possible for maths, it honestly is the only way you'll improve. Unfortunately I've dropped it now and forgotten everything I learnt otherwise would've offered to help XD

What other A-levels are people doing?

I just did a C2 exam this morning. Found it OK even though there were a couple of relatively challenging questions in this paper...

Also, I have to agree that past papers is the best thing u can do to prepare.

Sounds like you should be fine then, well done (hopefully that doesnt sound patronising :o )! :) There was one quesion last year that not even the brightest of the further maths people could do, had horrible pi n radians conversions

Presumably you're doing further maths?

Yes, indeed. I will have an A-level in Maths and an A-level in Further Maths by next year. The question on today's paper was one involving a transformation of the sine graph and we had to find the equation of that graph...

My class started C2 a few weeks back, I hate it already. C1 was pretty easy though and S1 is straightforward. If only I had taken Further Maths instead of IT though :(

Wait 'till C3 then :P Honestly, I dont want to look like the nerd here, but C2 is pretty straightforward as well, nothing too complex (which means examiners can play around and come up with seemingly difficult questions? :D).

Further Maths means I have to take FP1, FP2 etc. which I've heard are ok-ish but thanks God I wont have to take FP3 as well B)

Don't be silly, I'd rather understand it and find it straightforward than the other way round which would do me no good at all ;) And what's C3 on?

C3 basically includes stuff that has never come before, especially in trigonometry eg. introducing cosecant, secant etc. (similar to sine, cosine and tangent). Plus the usual things like algebra and differentiation :P

Regarding C1 and C2, I believe that there shouldnt be any real problems with them. If there are though, dont let them cram up 'cause they are pretty much the foundation of your A-level in maths :)

Re: Revision for Exams

On the topic of maths, does anyone else find the mechanics horrible compared to the rest of the course? I've just finished FP2 (not the exam just the work) and I find it way way easier than M1. I guess its because I'm not doing physics but other people find it harder as well

Re: Revision for Exams

Just received an offer from Edgehill pretty happy with that, as they will probably be my insurance with JMU being my firm. Now just got to wait on Chester and Manchester Met, anyone else had anymore luck recently?

Also has anyone signed up on yougo? If you haven't it's just a website that helps you meet people that may be studying the same course as you, haven't done much on it yet but I plan to in the near future.

Re: Revision for Exams

I'll take that as a no ... your all missing out :P

And @Predator or anyone that does Product Design' date=' how's your practical work and coursework going?[/quote']

I did AS Physics last year for about a month and then dropped it for English as I couldn't stand the teachers who taught the subjects B)

My practical work is going pretty well, probably at the half way stage, with a couple of weeks to go. However, well behind in the coursework - will need to catch up over the half term :o

What about you? :)

I have next week and a contingency week after half term to finish mine, done about 70% of it and finished Assignment 1 & 2 (got to correct my Development a bit more though) so far, now I'm just going to start to finish my Assignment 3. Then after that I gotta do some revision for the exam.

Wow, the teachers must've been awful if you dropped Physics for English :P
