koplfc 8,423
Re: Eredivisie Discussion Thread Apologies for not being around for the last week or so. Just a little update of whats been happening. Ajax have signed of Theo Janssen for €3million from Twente. Twente are now believed to be keen on Kevin Strootman of Utrecht. Watch the space.... Had no confirmation on this but Kolbeinn Sigthorsson has apparently signed for Ajax. Ill keep your posted. Tragic news on Mihai Nesu who might not play again after a teammate fell on top of him during training. Nesu couldn't feel anything from his neck down and spent 5 hours in surgery. Finally, ADO Den Haag and Groningen will fight it out over two legs for a Europa League place after ADO Den Haag beat Roda JC 6-3 on aggregate while Groningen went through on away goals against Heracles. koplfc 8,423
Re: Eredivisie Discussion Thread Thankfully Mihai Nesu is on the road to recovery after his accident. "Movement in his right arm has slowly been restored" "The left-back was discharged from the intensive care unit last week after returning to breathing on his own." From Jun 4th... PSV have signed Georginio Wijnaldum, Dries Mertens and Kevin Strootman over the past week. Can certainly see PSV challenging more next season, while im unsure over Utrecht after losing Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Strootman and Mertens, tough season ahead if they don't replace them. Kolbeinn Sigthórsson is supposedly set to join Ajax from AZ for €4million. John Guidetti's future is in serious doubt too. His deal at Manchester City ran out, he was thought to of pre-agreed a deal with Twente and was expected back at training at the start of the month, but failed to turn up. Blaise Nkufo has joined FC Twente as part of the scouting team, he'll be scouting in North America. Patrick Kluivert has also joined Twente, joining the club as the first team coach. Radosav Petrović has joined Vitesse for €1.8million, signing a 5 year contract. Not sure if this means Ismaïl Aissati will remain at Ajax

I used to watch Mihai since his early days at Steaua , a player full of energy and he always used to give it his all on the pitch. I met him in person back in 2005 at a match between my hometown team Otelul Galati and Steaua Bucuresti , really kind person. It's something that could happen to anyone .. Hope he gets well soon , shame that he had to end his career so soon, had much more to offer to football .

ashtini 27,252
Re: Eredivisie Discussion Thread Goal.com Eredivsie team of the season: Vermeer Janmaat -- Van Dijk -- Van Der Hoorn -- Blind Van Ginkel -- Eriksen -- Strootman Finnbogason -- Pelle -- Bony Kenneth Vermeer played a big role in Ajax winning their 32nd Eredivisie title as he put in a number of fine performances. The 27-year-old kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Dutch top flight and was even rewarded with a call-up to the Netherlands national side. The Amsterdam giants brought in Jasper Cillessen two years ago as there were doubts about Vermeer's abilities, but he has silenced his critics once and for all this season. Right-back Daryl Janmaat was one of a number of players who joined Feyenoord on a free transfer last summer and the defender proved to be an instant hit in Rotterdam. He has missed just one game all season and was one of his side's star performers on more than one occasion. It's been a difficult season for Groningen, but Virgil van Dijk has been one of the few bright lights at the Euroborg side. Despite his young age, the centre-back led by example throughout the 2012-13 campaign, thus earning himself the interest of a number of bigger sides. Utrecht defender Mike van der Hoorn was virtually unknown prior to this season, but the centre-back has really risen to prominence in the past 12 months. The 20-year-old was unfortunate to score a comical own goal in the heavy loss against AZ, but his fans were quick to forgive him following his superb form this year. At the start of the season, the majority of Ajax fans would have highlighted Daley Blind as the Amsterdam side's weakest link in defence, but the full-back has really proven his doubters wrong. The 23-year-old has become a key player at the ArenA and was deservedly rewarded with a new and improved deal. Vitesse surprisingly managed to challenge for the Eredivisie title this season and young midfielder Marco van Ginkel was one of the Arnhem side's key performers. The Netherlands international not only scored eight goals, but also has eight assists to his name in what can be considered as his breakthrough season. Denmark international Christian Eriksen is one of the most sought-after players in Europe and it's no surprise that the playmaker makes the cut after yet another fine season. He was directly involved in 23 goals to help Ajax to the league title and seems to be more than ready for a step up this summer. It's been a rather disappointing season for PSV as they once more missed out on the title, but Kevin Strootman has every reason to be pleased with his individual performances. The left-footed midfielder was one of the few PSV players to consistently play at a high level this term and has developed into a key figure for the national side following his progress. Alfred Finnbogason had big boots to fill at Heerenveen after replacing last year's Eredivisie top scorer Bas Dost - but the Iceland international did not disappoint at the Friezen. The striker netted an impressive 24 goals to guide his team away from the relegation zone and to a fine eighth-place finish in the Eredivisie. Feyenoord's decision to bring in Graziano Pelle as the replacement for the immensely popular John Guidetti raised plenty of eyebrows in Rotterdam at the start of the season, but the Italian has done a superb job. The 27-year-old netted nearly twice as many goals this term as in his previous four seasons in the Eredivisie combined (27 to 14) and has become a real crowd favourite. It's been quite a remarkable season for Wilfried Bony, who simply could not stop scoring for Vitesse. The Cote d'Ivoire international netted crucial goals against PSV, Ajax, and Feyenoord and was crowned the league's top scorer with 31 goals in 30 games, a stunning goal to game ratio of 1.03. philarthur 222
Re: Eredivisie Discussion Thread It's great to see PSV sticking to principal and buying some great Dutch youth with the funds they got from the Mertens and Lens transfers. Strootman looks bound to be leaving too, but if Dzsudzsak's departure is any indication, PSV will reinvest most of the transfer kitty. They'll be really exciting to watch again this year. Talk on City forums is probably over hyped but from them I hear he's an outside shot for a place in the Dutch NT. True or rubbish? [/quote']I've watched a few of PSV's games so far, and they're one of the most intriguing teams I've seen for a long time. Manager Philip Cocu is putting a HUGE emphasis on youth, and this past Saturday in their game against NEC, the oldest player in their starting XI was 22. I see PSV as a legitimate threat to catch AC Milan off guard in the CL qualifiers, albeit still the underdogs. As a unit, PSV's defense looks a bit weak at the moment, but Rekik has looked like a pretty decent defender. He's a strong tacker and a good passer, but his early partnership with Jeffrey Bruma looks a bit suspect. Mind you, we're only a couple of games into the season. In PSV's game against NEC, Zakaria Bakkali was by far a class above the rest, with Georginio Wijnaldum, Oscar Hiljemark, and Rekik all putting in good shifts. Jetro Willems was decent as well, but he's certainly not recently been able to justify his inclusion at the Euro 2012.
Kommandeur 13
Re: Eredivisie Discussion Thread I cannot wait for Der BULLDOZER, Bruno Martins Indi to join Der Bundesliga. He would probably make it into 85% Der Bundesliga sides as a CB he is that good. I am very surprised how Feyenoord still have Indi, De Vrij, Clasie and Singh all still playing for them. I can almost 100% guarantee, that all 4 will play in Der Bundesliga or the Premier league in the coming future years. But I believe Feyenoord have finally found a great potential legendary CB in Martins Indi, alongside De Vrij, with Van Der Wiel on the RB position, and the bomber LB Jetro Willems, who resembles David 'Schalab' Alaba. The Eredivisee is all of a sudden producing quality CB's like Van Der Hoorn, Van Dijk, Bruma, Goullemuew, De Vrij and Martins Indi.
