Re: UK Riots

People we need to face it' date=' there aint no easy solution to it! We all try to blame one particular thing for these riots and these yobs but truthfully its a mixture of many things. There's no quick fix....well thats unless we give them 50grand each :)[/quote']

The main thing is to get it over as quickly and painlessly as possible. Then do the autopsy and take the bitter medicine whatever the outcome. Really sad how the need for instant gratification sometimes masquerades as civil rights causes.

Re: UK Riots

To be fair thats the last thing we need. The 'EDL' as they call themselves are just going to escalate a problem that's quietened down in the capital today by all means and is now just dispersed areas around the country. It's still bad but i think last night the problem was out of control. The 'EDL' can do one in my opinion , also the BNP's leader tweets that someone posted earlier sicken me. The way he insights racial hatred but in such a way that can't be pointed out is clever but so wrong. He criminalises the black and Forign community while promoting the White one. There's scum in every ethnicity and community. Every country , every social group ... so to use this to promote his campaign is wrong.

Same with that bloody Ken Livingston the ... , i was outraged last night when he attacked Boris Johnson and the goverment to promote himself.

For everyone of them vile scum now showing their true colours over the last few days i'm sure there will be twice if not more as many people who have educated themselves on whats happening and will be looking to improve this country from it. The country is a state but to riot and protest is wrong , to condemn the current government is not beneficial either , there just coping with a situation handed down from years previous. Two steps backwards before we can move forwards together. The country needs to unite if things are to get better.

I agree with you about the EDL, although the EDL have good intentions they need to step back and think, however i do think that action does need to be taken and its stuff like this that shows that the world hasn't all fallen into chaos and that a community spirit still exists.

Good intentions? What are they - cleansing the country of all ethnic minorities?

Yes they have good intentions on the face of things , but in reality look to there history and tell me there not just going to start fights with foreigners and other in their view unwanted groups in Britain. If they were a community group fighting back like i've heard of around the country i'd be loving this and encouraging it but not with a group like this. Running down the road shouting EDL EDL , is encouraging more than fighting back against the looters...

I mean protecting their shops, although i disagree with the EDL's racial message i do agree with their message on a community (not a ethnic cleansed one like they suggest but a stronger more linked community fighting for a greater community (I DO NOT WANT ETHNIC CLEANSING!!!) <---just so people get the message :)

Re: UK Riots

What's going on really? I'm hearing the media say it's just a bunch of thieves looting stores. But then you hear things like this:

biJgILxGK0o&feature=related

Could anyone give me a quick rundown of the arguments the two sides are giving (and who are the two sides really)?

That guys living in a world long since past. No real sides just fragmentation of a protest against the allegedly unlawful police killing of a person-Mark Duggan. Then it became a lightening rod for protests against alleged police practices (racist profiling etc), then morphed into a full blooded wail against "the man" who have kept youths down-throw in a couple political chants etc and voila!:(

Man gets shot by policemen. They claim that he shot at them, but his friends and family, and many onlookers claim he never pulled out a gun. The police handled it almost as badly as possible.

The peaceful protests were hijacked by people looking for a confrontation and the resulting riots are a mixture of angry, disillusioned youths and opportunistic thieves. The riots are no longer anything to do with the shooting and are now just a mass outpouring of anger.

I think that's most of it.

Re: UK Riots

Personally I think if this was in America this would all be over due to the fact that thw American police can use guns and also they have the law that allows you to shoot at a tresspasser.

Is it a case of the police not being allowed to anything rather than them not doing anything?

This. Also the fact that during last years G20 riot a Riot Officer was convicted(?) of manslaughter after he 'knocked' a man in the protesting crowd to the floor. The man died of a heart attack(?). This may mean they are also overly-cautious in their approach.

To be honest, the chaos looks like it's calmed a hell of a lot.
