Jamaal Lascelles

Name: Jamaal Lascelles

Nationality: English

Date of Birth: 11/11/1993

Position: Defender

The teenager had a taste of life with the first team when he was selected for their pre-season training camp in Portugal in the summer of 2011.

During that trip he joined the action against a Spurs XI as a substitute, having also lined-up in a friendly against Mansfield 12 months earlier.

A highly promising central defender, his progress has also been recognised on the international stage and he has been capped by England at both Under 18 and Under 19 level.

Season 2010 - 11

The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly had scouts watching the Nottingham Forest defender Jamal Lascelles for over a year, but it now seems that the Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has also got ideas about making a bid to take him to Stamford Bridge.

Wenger has always got his scouts looking for talented young English players and now Bruce Buck has admitted that Abramovich has also told him to start building up a pool of promising youngsters at the Chelsea Academy to save money in the future.

Lascelles has been known to be a very promising centre-back for some time and has already made three appearances for the England U19 side, and has impressed the watching scouts from many clubs.

The Sunday People report today that Arsenal are intending to tempt Nottingham Forest to let him leave in January for just £2million in the hope of nabbing him before Chelsea and other interested clubs start circling and up the ante. Forest could do with the cash but if they could hang on to Lascelles for another year or two they may be able to ask for more money from the Big Boys.

The latest bright young thing to gain recognition at the NFFC Academy, is central defender Jamaal Lascelles.

According to reports in the Sunday People and Sunday Mirror, Premiership clubs Arsenal and Chelsea are set to do battle to land the talented 18 year old.

Lascelles is yet to make his first team debut with the Reds', but he has already represented England at U'18 and U'19 levels. Lascelles has a professional contract at the club, that should tie him to the City Ground until the end of 2013. The big question now facing the club, is whether to cash in and take the money now, or wait and watch his stock rise as he gets older and gains more experience.

Earlier this year, the Evening Post reported that Forest had rejected a bid of £5m (including add ons) from the Gunners. The reports in today's papers suggest that the Gunners are fighting it out with Chelsea for the players signature, with Arsene Wenger said to be preparing a £2m offer for the youngster, who only turned 18 this month.

Looks a good talent and one to snap up once he comes on to the database.Hopefully he starts getting games for Forest to get himself on the database and If he continues to get games for the England under 19's I am sure he will get games sooner rather than later.

Re: Jamaal Lascelles

A report that Lascelles is reportedly signing for Spurs rather than Arsenal with the player being loaned back to Forest straight away.It is from Caughtoffside so might not be the greatest news to follow but could prove to be true as I have read a few reports today stating the same thing.

Will update when when anything is concrete.
