Will 2,888
Re: EC 10000 - Match Reports/Transfers Thread Manchester City begin a new reign of dominance The bigwigs behind Manchester City have decided it is time Manchester City asserted their financial dominance over the Premier League. They have appointed Will Trafford as the new man in charge and have immediately shown their intentions handing him a large transfer kitty, they have also advised him to get rid of all the 'dead wood' at the Ethiad stadium. Will Trafford had this to say: I am delighted to have been given this opportunity and hope to repay the trust that i have been shown. I am looking to make one or two marquee signings and then put my faith in the talented youth of this generation. Attack is the best form of defence and this is where we will focus our spending. Cutting the opponents out in the midfield is vital, as is a lightning counter attack. A new era has begun.
.CFC 4,572
Re: EC 10000 - Match Reports/Transfers Thread JACK CORK SIGNS! Brentford are delighted to announce the signing of former England Under-21 international Jack Cork. The club's first addition of the summer signals the ambition to compete in this division, with Brentford beating a number of clubs from both the Premier League and the Championship to the midfielder's signature. 22 year-old Cork joins for an undisclosed fee from the Championship giants. Jack is a midfielder by trade, but is also versatile enough to play in defence which he showed at the recent England Under-21s fixture at St. Mary's where he featured at right back as the Three Lions kept a clean sheet against their Norwegian counterparts. Cork has been a Chelsea player since the age of 9 where he has captained both the Under-18s and reserves sides at Stamford Bridge. He has represented England at every youth level from Under-16 to Under-21, and has on occasion also been captain. His father is former Wimbledon and Sheffield United striker Alan Cork, who played professionally from the late seventies to the early nineties predominantly in English football. Having played for numerous clubs in the Championship on a loan basis, Jack has now decided that St. Mary's is the best place to call home for his blossoming career for the next four years, during which time he aims to return to the Premier League. Jack Cork said of the move: "I'm excited really. It all started to happen this morning, I came down and met the Chairman and the Manager today and I'm really happy to get it sorted. This is a big part of my life now in moving away from Chelsea and to feel part of a club like I do here is really nice."It was a massive decision to make. I had another year left at Chelsea, but I've been wanting to get away for a while and have been waiting for the right move to present itself. The chance to come to Brentford came along, and having known the manager and having been here before and knowing some of the guys, it just felt like it was the right move for me. "There were other teams in for me but this always felt like the right option because this Club is really going places and heading in the right direction, so I'm delighted to be here and can't wait for the season to start." He said this: Owen is a terrible player, he couldn't even keep up with the kids at playtime. For him to suggest he would have been on the bench is scandalous. drink 1,718
Leeds United's top signings German, Dutch and Spanish invasion Leeds United were once up there in the top flight of English football sitting comfortably at the top of the table, their risky appointment of a rookie manager may be the thing that gets them back to premier league football. The new gaffer has aimed to achieve this by bringing in many foreign players with links to mainly German, Dutch and Spanish players. The Leeds gaffer has announced the new signing of Spurs' star Kyle Walker, and plans reveal that Walker will be the only English player left in the squad once transfers have been completed. Leeds have signed many big names so far: Ricky Van Wolfswinkel will be playing an imperative role for Leeds United this season, he will be the only striker up front and will look to play the target man role. Erik Pieters was signed from PSV to support offensive play on the flanks on the left side while also carrying out defensive roles. The new Leeds manager has emphasised the importance of the full-back role in his tactics and have therefore signed two top full-backs with Kyle Walker on the other flank Julian Draxler will only improve as time passes. The German youth international will lead the flanks with Ola John on the other side. He will also look to play the ball inwards to the attacking mid, who has not signed by Leeds United yet, although, talks are in with Dortmund star Kagawa. Stefan De Vrij will play as a centre-half for Leeds ahead of Oliver Baumann. A solid defender and an absolute rock at the centre. One to look out for and a catalyst to the future of Leeds United. footy22 14
Re: EC 10000 - Match Reports/Transfers Thread New manager Tim Klein said in his first interview that he would totally revamp the Gunners, and he has fulfilled his promise. Arsenal have bought 8 new players, and 13 other players have departed the club, not including loan deals. The most surprising move was possibly the player-for-player swap that saw Robin Van Persie depart to Real Madrid in exchange for Gonzalo Higuain. SIGNINGS Alexandre Pato was involved in a deal that sent Abou Diaby and Andrey Arshavin to Milan. Pato will assume the role of the second striker playing alongside superstar Gonzalo Higuain. Toni Kroos was bought for 20 million pounds and Chu Young Park. By far the biggest signing for Arsenal this year, Kroos is expected to mature into the leader of this youthful Arsenal squad. Arsenal's manager stated before the season that the main goal was to replace faces like Nasri and Fabregas with another young playmaker. Higuain was purchased from Real Madrid and is meant to assume the role of the target man and playmaker for Arsenal. He figures to help teach the younger Alex Pato all that he can in order to make a devastating strike partnership. Hummels was purchased from Borussia Dortmund for Per Mertesacker and 13 million pounds. The main goal in the offseason was to totally rebuild what Klein called, "Aging and weak." The only two defenders kept were Bacary Sagna and Thomas Vermaelen. Hummels is the new key to the defense, and should be an anchor in the back. Simon Kjaer (top) and Daniel Schwaab (bottom) are the two other young defenders that Arsenal have signed. They figure to be the two main backups for the defense and will get time in both league and cup games this year. In order to get these two, Arsenal gave up Johan Djourou, Ignasi Miquel, Sebastien Squillaci, and Laurent Koscielny. Alan Dzagoev was acquired in exchange for Marouane Chamakh and Lukasz Fabianski. Dzagoev's purchase should bolster Arsenal's midfield and give them an extra boost off the bench. Zuculini was purchased from Hoffenheim for Tomas Rosicky and Rhys Murphy. Zuculini is yet another backup who has a bright future and was purchased solely to replace the aging Rosicky in midfield.
